First Annual Barns Grant awardees:

This is a very exciting time for the CT Trust as we just funded our first round of the Barns Grant. The purpose of this grant is to help barn owners understand that barns and outbuildings do not necessarily need to be abandoned after a farm is no longer being used. The Barns Grant can be used for one or more of the following three options: a conditions assessment, to determine what needs to be done to restore the structure;a feasibility study, to explore adaptive re-use options and/or a state or national register for historic places nomination, if the site and structures are significant enough.

The Barns Grant, which is funded by the CT General Assembly, pays 75% of these costs, up to a cap of 8k. This round we gave out almost 60k to 22 private citizens, non-profits organizations and municipalities.
