HPX-March/April 2009-c1830 Farmhouse & Barn – Historic District - Washington, CT

Classic c1830 gutted farmhouse & dilapidated barn located within the Calhoun-Ives Historic District.  This is a seminally important property, which is one of the last unspoiled properties in the district.  The property contributes hugely to the historic agricultural character of the district with its simple vernacular farm buildings.  The historic commission is concerned for the imminent loss of these historic structures, which are facing benign neglect.  The commission would like to see these buildings restored to preserve the rural character of the farm and the Calhoun-Ives streetscape.
