Connecticut Preservation News, the bimonthly newsletter/magazine of
the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, keeps our members, constituents
and state legislators up-to-date on preservation news, issues and trends.
Regular features include news items from around the state, descriptions of new
sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, book reviews, reports
from the State Historic Preservation Office, and Archaeological Perspectives. A
regular column, "Connecticut Snapshots," highlights places around the state that
are noteworthy for their design, history, atmosphere, scenery, or
whimsy.
Every year, the
September/October issue is dedicated to the Trust’s annual list of “Great
Preservation Opportunities”—new developments, great ideas, or places facing
threats that offer opportunities for preservation. Growing out of the Trust’s
long-standing listings of The Most Important Threatened Historic Places in
Connecticut,
“Great Opportunities” continues to attract attention throughout the state and
beyond.
Connecticut Preservation
News has been at the
forefront of reporting new trends in historic preservation, including the
protection and sympathetic improvement of historic roads and highways, curbing
sprawl, the growing appreciation for Modernist architecture, and the emergence
of sustainability as the latest preservation frontier. Connecticut Preservation News has a
print circulation of 2,600, and many of its articles also appear on the
Connecticut Trust's preservation portal. Connecticut Preservation News is
included with a Connecticut Trust membership.
