The 1827 Eli Whitney Boarding House gets a new roof!

The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation headquarters, located in the 1827 Eli Whitney Boarding House in Hamden, has had another step towards its restoration completed; the Trust recently replaced the failing wood shingle roof with a new wood shingle roof. The roof is a part of our overall restoration/energy efficiency goal for the boarding house. The next steps will include the exterior restoration (partial funding for this project is provided by the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism’s Historic Restoration Fund) and dense blown cellulose insulation. The RFP for the exterior restoration will be announced on Friday, January 7th, 2011.
