Is it a Colonial or Queen Anne? To fully understand and appreciate a historic building, it is crucial to know what you are selling. A Colonial period farmhouse is very different than a Colonial Revival style home and a Greek Revival style house is not the same as a Federal period residence. Although it is not recommended to date a house by its style, there are many more accurate and precise ways including dendrochronology and documentary evidence, it is important to understand stylistic differences to be able to accurately describe and market historic properties.
