Connecticut Barns & www.connecticutbarns.org

Connecticut Barns is a project of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. Its primary goal is to make accessible the important story of Connecticut agriculture, as symbolized by its wide variety of barn types and uses, as well as to provide a nostalgia trail for all who love barns and fear their numbers in Connecticut is quickly declining.

The Connecticut Barns web site is designed to serve as a central repository for barn surveys, research and general information, images as well as other barn related resources which may retrieved by visitors, residents, scholars, and barn enthusiasts from across the country.

www.connecticutbarns.org will become the only comprehensive resource for information on our state’s old barns. It is hoped that surveys and our web site will prompt more advocacy to protect old barns and result in  documentation of what “was there once” . Potentially an extinct building type, the barn in Connecticut will at least have a place where it can be celebrated.
