CT Trust Circuit Rider Brad Schide responded to concerns raised in the community of Waterbury after the Immaculate Conception Church began demolishing the 140-year-old Trinity Episcopal Church to make way for a parking lot. CT Trust staff encouraged city residents to create a demolition delay ordinance, which is a preservation tool that has been used in many of Connecticut’s communities to require a 90-day waiting period before the property can be demolished. Residents can use the 90-day window to find alternative options to demolition. Brad will continue working with Waterbury residents to move forward implementing the ordinance.
