Every contribution makes a difference!

There are many ways to give:

Membership

We offer several levels of membership for our supporters at individual, family, business and organization levels. However, all gifts to Preservation Connecticut count towards complimentary memberships as well so regardless of how you give, you will be considered one of our members.

Individual donations

A general donation to Preservation Connecticut is the simplest way to give and it has an immediate impact on our ability to serve communities. All donations are tax-deductible and don’t forget to ask your employer about matching gifts, forms for which are available through many company human resource departments. You may also set up recurring donations through our donation page. Many of our donors generously decide to provide automatic donations on a weekly, monthly or annual basis by setting up automatic payments by debit or credit card. This is simple way to contribute to either spread your larger donation throughout the year or to set up a payment that you don’t have to think about renewing in the future.

Corporate Sponsorship

We invite businesses to participate in our events through sponsorship to not only help us continue our mission, but to show their work in revitalizing and preserving communities. Corporate sponsors will be listed on our website and in our annual report, as well as listed in all media releases and in any event promotional materials. Every year, we offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities for our Connecticut Preservation Awards.

Stock Donations

Donating stocks is great way to give while also receiving multiple tax deduction benefits. Please contact us first if you’d like to donate stocks and we will send the transfer information.

Retirement Plans

You may name Preservation Connecticut as a beneficiary of your IRA or other qualified retirement benefits. Naming Preservation Connecticut as the beneficiary of a qualified retirement plan asset such as a 401(k), 403(b), IRA or profit sharing pension plan will accomplish a charitable goal while realizing significant tax savings. By naming Preservation Connecticut as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, the donor maintains complete control over the asset while living, but at the donor’s death the plan passes to support Preservation Connecticut, free of both estate and income taxes. Simply request a change of beneficiary form from your plan administrator. When you are done, please return the form to your plan administrator and notify Preservation Connecticut. Once you decide to designate us as a beneficiary, provide the address and tax identification number, as follows, on your beneficiary designation form. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding the tax benefits of these types of gifts.

Bequests and estates

Bequests or charitable trusts are examples of planned gifts.  They are a wonderful way for you to provide a future gift to charity. Planned giving involves providing for a future gift to charities through your financial and estate plans. A bequest is a gift from your estate—a transfer of cash, securities, or other property made through your estate plans. You can make a bequest to Preservation Connecticut by including language in your will or living trust leaving a portion of your estate to the agency, or by designating Preservation Connecticut as a beneficiary of your retirement account or life insurance policy. It is important to retain an attorney to assist in this process. Your bequest will help us continue our mission while giving you control of your funds or property during  your lifetime, reducing your estate taxes, and enabling you, if you let us know yours plans, to be honored for your contribution as part of our Legacy Society. Please read more on our bequest page for details.

Thank you for your commitment to Preservation Connecticut.
